Kiwis spend more on bananas than any other fruit, getting through 18kg of them every year, or roughly two bananas a week per person. Bananas bearing the FAIRTRADE Certification Mark have been produced by small farmer organisations or in plantations that meet high social and environmental standards. Farmers who produce Fairtrade certified bananas are guaranteed a Fairtrade minimum price to cover the costs of sustainable production and a Fairtrade Premium of US$ 1 per 18.14kg-box of bananas to invest in projects in their communities.
Take the pledge to consume bananas responsibly and support supply chains that treat farmers and workers fairly.

This pledge is part of #smallactionsBIGCHANGE where we invite hundreds of Kiwis to commit to one small action throughout 2015 that when amplified by the many can create really big change. The more of us that commit to action, the more impact that action will have. We will track and measure the results to showcase the tangible, overall impact our individual actions are having.
